Fall 2021 Back the Byway Cleanup Ride presented by Dan Cummins Off-Road

The focus of our Fall "Back the Byway" ride will be cleaning and preserving the trails we all use. During the event and anytime groups are on the trails there will be a focused effort to leave the Byway cleaner and better than we found it. Trail Leaders will assist their groups in packing out any trash or debris found on the sections they travel (and there might even be some prizes involved!) 

In addition to raising funds for our Trail Maintenance initiatives, we will also be donating part of the event proceeds to the family of David Asher, a 10 year old boy from Rogers/Alexandria KY. David has been an avid atv rider, fisherman, hunter, Jeep fanatic and advocate for the Daniel Boone National Forest since he was very little. He was diagnosed with DIPG, a form of terminal brain cancer of the brainstem on Thanksgiving Day, 2020. From a young age he wanted to be a US Forest Service Ranger and guide in the Red River Gorge. To say David loves DBNF is an understatement. He bleeds for it, and wants to protect it's rich resources and beautiful land. He has spent years packing trash out and maintaining trails. Upon his passing, he wishes for his remains to be scattered along the portion of DBBB from Little Fork Creek to the big boulder beach at Lower Devil's creek. In honor of this young boy's commitment to the Tread Lightly principles we will be dedicating a section of the Byway in his honor during the event.
